Then Until Now
Caleb Smith
Caleb is a C-130 Flight Engineer for the United States Air Force. He has a passion for working with his hands, and spends a good amount of his time outside of an airplane in his leather workshop hand carving designs into leather. He enjoys learning about other industries and is always trying his hand at new skills. Between being a self-taught guitarist with a love of all things music, you can sometimes find him performing on stage around Columbus, Ohio, or more often in the comfort of his living room at home.
Elisabeth Brennan
Elisabeth is an Art Director for an Advertising & Marketing Agency in downtown Columbus. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design & Advertising from the Columbus College of Art & Design in 2013, she has been working diligently towards reaching her professional and personal goals in her career. In addition to her passion for design, she has a love for the culinary arts, home improvement, and real estate. Elisabeth can organize anything, and has a knack for finding silver linings.
How They Met
Caleb and Elisabeth met on August 9th, 2014 when they stood beside two of their dearest friends, Erica & Ryan Penn, on their wedding day. Just before the ceremony, the photographer wanted to get a couple shots of Erica with the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Caleb and Elisabeth stood beside each other in those photos without knowing each other’s name, and then when dismissed, Caleb turned and offered Elisabeth his hand to help her down the alter stairs. Little did either of them know at the time, but that would be the defining moment of their future together.
During the reception, hilariously enough, Elisabeth caught the bouquet, and Caleb caught the garter. After those events, they we’re told they had to dance together in front of everyone as they we’re the two lucky winners. From that day forward, they spoke every day for almost a month before going on their first date, and the rest is history.
Fast Forward 4 Years
Through the years they’ve shared their lives together, they’ve grown as both as a couple and as individuals. Between time apart from the Air Force, hand writing letters for 3 months, living in different zip codes and states, countless adventures, pursued education, advancements in careers, new jobs, home buying, 2 cats later and more – life together couldn’t be more exciting.
She Said Yes!
January 4, 2018The Rest is History
Caleb proposed to Elisabeth on January 4, 2018 at the 94th Aero Squadron in front of over 30 of their closest friends and family. Caleb absolutely surprised Elisabeth; she only thought that they were going out to dinner that night. After they turned the corner inside the restaurant, Elisabeth gasped at the surprise, and turned to Caleb, only for him to go down on one knee in front of everyone and asked the big question.
Elisabeth’s answer?
“Of course!”
